I beg to differ, Keith, and offer the Gorilla and King Index portfolio as evidence. I think you'll be able to discern the effectivity of diversifying into 10 Gorilla and Kings as compared to a poftfolio severely overweighted in Qualcomm:

In an economic crash, all of the above may well move in the same direction. Perhaps you should have included gold bullion, firearms, and canned goods in your list.

You make an excellent point here. I laugh when I remember all these finacial types telling us about how not to focus on 1 or 2 stocks and to have a diversified portfolio of STOCKS to protect from risk. Well, many of us focused on QCOM are doing quite fine thank you. Yeah, it was rough during the first of the year...but if you had diversified in March or so OUT of QCOM as I probably would have done if I followed my pattern...I would be well below where I am now...

Says something about market timing and holding onto great companies for the duration.

One more note about my accountant. He told me last night that the only people he knows that have really made it big were long term holders.
Funny, but he metioned AT&T and Coke as some of the real long term winners in his experience...even NOW with the turn of fortunes for both companies. Quite a statement.

I think us Q holders are going to do fine. :)
