tofu ... bean sprouts ... leafy green vegetables ... bok choy, cilantro, peppers, leeks, mangos, clementines, navel oranges ... sesame seeds ... Thai bird peppers ....

Well, the subject of 100-year-old barn lumber didn't rouse Gaugie, but maybe all these veggies and other produce will ......

I really felt intimidated watching people fill up their carts with 3 gallon sized containers of tofu and
ten pound bags of bean sprouts and bag after bag of leafy green vegetables. That's really healthy cooking.

Cucumber envy?

You like kimchi? Me do. Goes well on the side of many foods, I think.

If memory serves, durian comes into the country frozen (by law) and so it has no smell until it gets warm, or is cut open. Really, it wasn't THAT bad. It was just ODD.
LIke you smelled and thought- ewww. what's that? How weird. Sniff- sniff- ewwww...I don't want to smell this any more.
Mike Sphar and Nuni were durian experts, I only had it that once at the picnic when I had to prove myself worthy of Rambihood and eat it while smiling broadly. Unlike X who SPIT IT OUT. Weenie woman.
NUni and I ate durian icecream for breakfast, which I think deserved some sort of special award. ANd we were hungover too.

I am impressed by your healthful cooking. I am more impressed that you tore yourself away from the TV. I did errands during the judge's bathroom breaks. That;'s really pitiful, isn't it.

Re: ethnicity--in Southlake, there is NO diversity. I think it's illegal. Anyone who makes it to yuppieville doesn't acknowledge differences. There is a special section in the store for "cuturally unique cuisines" right next to the produce that periodically emits thunderstorm noises and sprays itself. (I LOVE this: I stand there and wait for it , then I count loud between the thunder and the spray- 1! 2! 3! the produce man thinks I'm insane).
It is very cool to buy these things. They cost a lot.
