Politics often plays out as i described. It is just as much a part of the system as anything else. Judges dont rule in a vacuum. If this was an election for dog catcher the outcome might by way different. Don't be naive on this point. Florida SC may face a legislature that makes the supreme court an elective body on 1/1/01 if they are perceived to continue to reinvent the law. And in an election most of them will lose if they throw the country into turmoil. Be real.
