Bill Shepherd: I understand your point that "such activity, wrong as it is, is NOT a good reason to quit the business", but your valuation (or others' valuation) of his judgment to quit at this time is solely your opinion and irrelevant to the outcome. That's my point. So yes, I understood your point to start with - I know you were not defending the concept of intellectual property theft.

"I hope you didn't misunderstand my point about the "bottomfeeder". I am, in no way, defending any copyright violations or other theft of intellectual property. My point was that such activity, wrong as it is, is NOT a good reason to quit the business."

This line of crapola has to be the height of hipocracy! Bob describes articles from Barrons almost every week. Is he a "bottom feeder" for that? Our local radio station mentions articles from USA Today every am on the air? Are they a bottom feeder? Of course not! Once information is published, it is public knowledge and you can write about it...and that does not mean copy it! I am betting if what was being done was wrong, Bob would have gone after the guy legally if it really bothered him.

"I can't disagree with your point about lack of substance and then silence on the radio...ardent listeners will lose (or are losing already) in that event."

The show has really gone downhill in the past few months. I used to record the show and play it back on my commute to work. No words of wisdom anymore...just ranting and raving about the election. I wouldnt be suprised if Bob quits...seems like he is just putting in time now...to run out his contract.

I do not think the bottom feeder issue can possibly be the reason. That would be like a recording artist quit recording because someone in a college dorm burned a couple of their CDs and sold them to the guys down the hall. Without the 6 hour infomercial every weekend, where are the subscribers going to come from? The newsletter is fairly expensive for what it is...You can subscribe to quite a few magazines or IBD or the Wall STreet Journal for the price of this monthly...and all I am ever interested in are the 3 or 4 sentences about market direction. I have no interest in the model portfolios or mutual fund lists. Make a few assumptions about what it costs him to produce this newsletter and what income it generates.

Bob is pretty small if the bottom feeder issue is true. I do not believe it is the reason for him quitting, if he does quit.
