I had the same experience with them a while ago. Forget about whether customers get upset about it or not. Rather think about what it says about their supposedly state of the art inventory system. How the in heavens can a fully computerized operation not be aware of its inventory or that of its key suppliers???

I can tell that express.com which is targeting DVD sales only, knows exactly what is in stock. It is updated immediatly. I am very impressed with them. Apparently I am not alone since they are the number one seller of DVDs on-line.

Amazon has only one category left in which they are the number one on-line seller. I do nto even recall what it is now. It is not books. That is Borders. It is not DVDs. Music???? I am not sure where they rank in electronics but they errored big time in doing inventory this year for electronics. The reduced inventory at the end of Q4 was touted as a plus by management and analysts.

I have never understood this firm or the analysts that cover it.
