Atin- Gore lied about his visit to Texas during a natural disaster with the Sec. of the Interior. Nonetheless, it was during his first debate!!! In fact, Gore's campaign came out the next day and publicly detracted Gore's statement!!!Pretty much, they conceded Gore lied during the debate. No, that lie wasn't a matter of national security. It probably didn't matter in the end either, considering only 1000 people in Florida decided this election. My point- somewhat off topic, but relevant nonetheless. Nader getting 5% of the national vote would have changed the face of politics more than either GW or Gore. Nader's dedication to public service for almost half a century sets him head and shoulders above the rest. Gore is an intelligent man- on any given day, we would present more intelligence than anyone. But he lacks polish, something he should have paid closer attention to when Clinton was working his magic.
