You just made a catch 22. If Gore could find a respectable
democrat, and wanted to send a respectable democrat, then
Gore would most likely be respectable also. If that was the
case, Gore would have already conceded, and not dragged this
election out. Also, a respectable person wouldn't have
been a "Gore Gopher."

Thing is, I don't think he would have won. I'm with you, I would have favoured counting the ballots, but using the objective Palm Beach standards, and also counting an equivalent number of "undervotes" from heavy Republican counties. I believe that if this were done GWB would still emerge the winner. Only by not counting undervotes elsewhere and streching the counting standards to include dimples did Gore have a chance at this thing.
