Dave:

"OTOH, AMD's aggressive actions, when combined with their previous guidance, projections, products and INTC's flat revenues, suggests that some nearly extreme excitement is warranted about how they're likelyto do in the near future."

Once again: Refer post #21449...all "milestones" for 2000 already reached(one month early)...2001: year of mass production, speed and innovation...

Look at what Intel said. Their gross margin is flat, despite cuts in expenses and an increased volume of faster and more expensive parts. Now there have been some price cuts, but I think they also have seen sales of the slower parts fall off a cliff. Now AMD's pattern is they are selling out of Athlons but the Durons are hanging in inventory due to infrastructure problems.

What we are seeing here is that AMD is succeeding in shifting the market to the Gigaprocessor range. It is likely that the sales of anything below 0.9GHz is anemic, I am willing to bet that most of those cancelled orders are for the sub-0.9GHz grade. When you factor in the Dec. 14 price cut for the AMD processors, then you almost feel sorry for Intel...

Q1 and Q2 are going to be brutal for Intel.
