I've been a liberal Democrat all my life and, believe me, there are plenty of fun, high-minded Dems out there, who pick up the tab. It's so difficult picturing you as being fun. You know, with you being liberal and all.

It's gross over-generalization of course. However, it does explain the question how fiscal conservatives get allied together with the religious right for example, bill payers tend to develop an unpleasant attitude about how things "should be," just like the holy rollers.
