s it me or does it seem like all these mysterious supply-chain problems started cropping up just after B2B procurement became fashionable? <NG> Very good point, and one that I have not heard raised before. Note that the major auto mfrs. didn't tolerate for long the B2B evangelists (C1, Ariba) who claimed that their business models could adapt seamlessly to any industry. I am a long-time holder of Hershey. Last year, their stock took a dive (thankfully I was hedged) because their SAP implementation made them unable to get their products into retail stores in a timely manner... and that was a case where management really believed in the system and did not override the results generated by the system. ERP, CRM, B2BP ... any failure of these systems is blamed on the implementation or the management of the end-user company. And the cost of these systems means that they can't be thrown away. They can only be replaced by something even more ridiculous.
