A two-way broadband satellite solution which
works fine over the DBS channel:

viasat.com

Note however that this solution appears targeted
at business markets.

Thanks for the link.

I think that broadband wireless- satellite, LMDS, laser, or microwave will always have a place in
business markets; it will compete in places where you can't run fiber due to cost and need more
than HDSL/T1 bandwidth.

My question is can you use satellite for the home- at the moment there are lots of proposals, but
it is uncertain if it can compete with cable or even DSL. Now there is a 17% satellite market
share for TV, so if they can get it to be competitive, they are in business. However, from a
recent post by Mike (http://www.siliconinvestor.com/readmsg.aspx?msgid=14955609) , it
seems they can't, so they want to take bandwidth from HFC and DSL, I guess.

My concern is what do rural residents do for broadband. It suppose they will have to pay a lot
for satellites.
