Microsoft is a '90's growth stock. It is an excellent company but its not a good stock anymore. Consumer PC's however are not crucial to MSFT's numbers. Consumer PC's represent about 10% of MSFT's biz. The rest is dependent on corporate IT buying.

Upgrading Fortune 1000 PC O/S's is not a strategic imperative and its low on the priority list of tech spending. The government case is just noise these days. It was a big distraction for the company but MSFT was losing its importance anyway. They are trying desperately to somehow get involved in the internet but its just not happening in any meaningful way.

TD, what do you think of loading up on IBM here. :)
