OT: If anyone knows why Palladium jumped $43+/ounce today, could you please P-mail me a link or explanation?

Thanks!
JQP

EDIT: Never mind, I just discovered that Russia abruptly stopped selling for the rest of the year. Incredibly bullish, unless one is a consumer of Palladium. Palladium likely to exceed $1,000/oz by the end of the year as it has very special properties and not easily substituted for.

Christmas lighting is nothing simple. Here in New York the Rockefeller Plaza tree burns 187,000 watts! In many parts of California there are huge public extravaganzas of holiday lighting like the Festival Of Light at Del Mar Racecourse near San Diego where every bit of the mile long racetrack and all the outbuildings are festooned. There are 100 foot garlands of lights draping the clubhouse from roof to ground. Of course, its Cali so the idea is to pay a per car charge and drive through it all. There are huge lines waiting their turn.

JQP, SCE if I may point out, sold its interest in the Palo Verde Nuclear Power Plant SW of Phoenix to APS earlier this year. I'm guessing that SCE was pushed by anti-nuke activist shareholders to get that "ugly nuke" off of the books".

Well SCE's share of that "ugly nuke" put out millions of kilowatts at a cost of about 1 cent/kilowatt hour of electricity ($10/megawatt hour)that SCE could be directing right now into the California markets, solving the potential Stage 3 problem- As you can imagine APS is probably dancing around the Christmas tree ....

I don't want to denigrate social consciousness and being anti -nuke or anti-carbon based fuel- However you need a solid energy/power industry which then forms a linchpin for economic development in one's state....
