Wrong again Dave. Bush lead before and after the absentee ballots were counted. How you come to your conclusions amazes me. The overseas absentee ballots simply increased his lead.

Duh, I could see that one a mile off, which is why I called your attempt to twist the rationale BS. Anyway, there was nothing wrong with the ballots, nor is there any difficulty in discerning voter intent. The lack of an ID number would have been immaterial to identifying the voter as being registered, and given the prior permission to pre- print the numbers, filling them in for the voters was trivial. But the main thing is that there is no way to identify the ballots resulting from the supplementation, and it is inequitable to throw out absentee ballots wholesale when the matter is so trivial.........

Apples and oranges Dave.

Did the absentee voters do something wrong in Seminole or whatever that other county was?

That's what has always bothered me about the absentee ballot issue. What difference does it make if they received those things by carrier pigeon, pony express or e-mail? The fact is they got them, voted, and returned them. Vote cast, period.

In the first case, MD County, voters were allowed into the booth with ballot in hand. From that point on, they have to be responsible to cast an accurate vote. Even with help (vote for number 3), a percentage couldn't do it. Who's fault is that? Second case, absentee voters received the ballots, cast the vote, and sent it in. If they overvoted, they were thrown out.

In case one, losing their vote was their own fault.
Case two, those voters did nothing wrong.

I knew you were up to something like that Dave. Time for bed. Thanks for the conversation. Have a good weekend. It's close enough to call it the weekend isn't it?

Dave Gore

You refer to absentee ballots being "illegally" registered ballots.

Please clarify. Have the absentee ballots been declared officially so by the courts as illegal? Is this your description? Is it the press description? Is it Gore's lawyers description?

And,why precisely are they illegal in your opinion or to the best of your knowledge.

Trying to sort this out---hope you can help.

Dear Sore Dave: "Remember these were illegally registered absentee ballot registrations which should have resulted in many thousands of Bush voters not even being allowed to vote UNDER LAW!"

What are you smoking lately? Must be good stuff!! Are you not aware that HAD the absentee ballots NOT been issued many of those voters would have either reapplied OR gone to the Polls and voted anyhow. In the testimony given out of about 270 requests for whom NO absentee ballots were issued it was later determined that all but about 30 voted anyhow? JDN
