Eventually, the training wheels must come off.

There's the rub. People start racing their bike with the training wheels, never knowing that they CAN come off. Round and round they go, gaining on each other. Someone without training wheels comes onto the track and there is no competition. It leaves the pack confused muttering vague "That isn't fair" protests. The basis? We all have training wheels - you don't.

It may bother those stuck with the training wheels to watch those without negotiating the curves better. The defense: defend the virtue of "training wheels". I find it fascinating that the Judeo-Christian tradition has knowledge as being the cause of original sin. Oh no, don't acquire knowledge of good and bad for yourself, you may learn that your chains are only screwed on and you have a screwdriver in your hand.
