I've addressed the "he didn't, Gore did" thing extensively. You're right. He didn't, Gore did. Gore won much, even when I thought he wouldn't. Now the deadlines have passed. Bush can't cherry pick the same places Gore cherry picked, in the conventional sense. I getyour point though. Maybe Bush held them up? Truly, if I thought that notion represented the facts in this case, I would be outraged, but I don't. Fact is, it was the system which indeed never intended this, which was Gore's roadblock. Had the system intended this, Gore would have gotten all he wanted as easy as a man finding a magic lamp. Intent IS key here...and becuase there was no real intent in law for this, it was troublesome for Gore to wring what he got out of the system as it exists. NOT Bush's fault, IMO. Bush didn't believe hand-counting these chads was a reliable way to get a fair count, even if done everywhere. He's entitled to that belief, and it may even be reasonable, you decide. But as the winner he did not have cause to help the other side by offering to do it, just as you might claim Gore didn't need to "help" Bush by asking that HIS territory be counted too. But so long as the system never intended this, I don't blame Bush for trying to stop Gore from getting what the system indeed never intended- Selective countings. Gore is the ONLY man who asked for that, and Bush is the only man who fought against its ultimate legality. Bush even lost in this regard, somewhat significantly, to date. I'm not a rabid Gore OR Bush lover, and I sure CAN'T back Gore's actions and pan Bushes here...no way...and I feel that's an unbiased opinion...well, biased in favor of fairness, that's all, IMO. Miami dade, if they ever counted fully, would give more votes to bush than what he has now from the counting there, IMO. Sigh, He IS losing the public relations war for good reason! It's not just me, ya know? Fully a fourth of his own voters want him out...why? I KNOW why, and I've been trying desperately to explain it here. People get a sixth sense about these things sometimes, and that's all that's happening. Dan B
