>> How high is the CURRENT NDX P/e and how high did the Nikkei's ever get in 1989? What percentage of the GDP is our total market trading at CURRENTLY and how high did that percentage ever get in 1929 or Japan in '89? What percentage does tech make up of the CURRENT total market compared to what it actually makes up of the economy?

I applaud your avid interest in investing, Chic, and the work you've already put into your research. If you haven't done so already, I'd suggest you maintain a few hypothetical portfolios based on diverse approaches (bear, bull, trading, ltb&h) and compare their returns over a year or two. I'd also suggest that you keep an open mind and read some books that offer a balanced analysis of investing, such as The Warren Buffett Way and Beating the Street. I'd also recommend a read of The Millionaire Next Door to see how earlier generations have gained and retained wealth.

My one critique relates to the fact that you have become too enamored of your recently formed opinions about macro-economics and market dynamics. At these early stages of your exposure to the financial markets, it would be more appropriate to focus on testing premises than lecturing on them. I'd urge you to recognize the possibility that you might be wrong.

Regards,
uf
