chic...you "read" history...many of us have "lived" history...

with due respect, at your age i doubt you waited in gas lines on odd-even days, or applied for a mortgage during the carter administration.....how about trading options in 1973, when a secondary clearing house was non existent...remember the o-t-c, or a busy day on the nyse was 12mil total shares?

i will restate...the biggest difference is the magnitude of the global economy, the tremendous liquidity and the massive capital involved....national interest in many countries equate to corporate interests, just look to oil as an example....

read history, it is important, but try not to negate those that were part of the history that you reference, for they lived first hand what you are trying to better understand...
