See a couple of new rules for next season.

Second round qualifying has been dropped, except for the Daytona 500, and the Budweiser Shootout will now include past winners from the Busch Clash and Bud Shootout. It will also be a 70 lap event rather than 25.

The change from 25 to 70 laps will change the race some. Not quite as aggressive, at least at the beginning. I think I would rather see the Shootout stay 25 laps. Flat out get to the front right from the drop of the green!!!

Not sure but have to believe that Earnhardt has won one of these in the past. With his qualifying efforts off some this will be great for him and the Shootout. When he's on the track at Daytona everyone has to look over their shoulder, well at least when he is isn't leading!

Just checked the article again and he is one of the past winners. Looking forward to February 11th!!!
