Bruce,

Re: And today CNBC was praising Jon Joseph (again) for his July call. Well, he got the top all right, but for the wrong reasons. He was calling for an end to this semi cycle, of which there is still no evidence. All that's happened was that a weaker economy took the edge of the up-cycle's rate of expansion. INTC's increased capex plan should remove any doubt about where we are in the cycle.

JJ of SSB claimed that we were at a top in the cycle because of an oversupply of tantalum capacitors. The week he made this call, NEC announced they were expanding capacity for making tantalum capacitors because there was an undersupply.

He was factually incorrect in his call but he got lucky, as it were, that the interest rate hikes hobbled the economy and thus the sector for the time being.

Brian
