Commentary: The joke's on you, Al
By MARTIN SIEFF, UPI Senior News Analyst

WASHINGTON, Nov. 6 (UPI) - Memo to Albert Gore, Vice President of the
United States:

Dear Mr. Vice President, I don't know how to break this news to you, but
The Universe thinks you're a cosmic joke.

The New York Times opinion page of Wednesday must be especially galling
for you. In that most dignified and Olympian theater of U.S. journalistic
and political expression, Maureen Dowd, perhaps the funniest political
columnist writing today, compared you to Captain Ahab, madly dashing around
the world chasing the Great White Whale in the classic novel "Moby Dick."

And on the same page, distinguished literary critic Harold Bloom compares
you to the pompous and dignified Malvolio, "the unctuous yet defenseless
victim of a sublime practical joke."

NY Times, also?

"Talk radio is biased in favor of conservatives and Republicans."

And the reason for this is?

If you have ever listened to a liberal talk radio program you will understand. Someone has to pay for that airtime.

Your show is only as good as the quality of your content.

As as side note, I was driving back from the West side of my state this week and I heard a right-wing talk show. I lost the signal before I could hear the hosts name. In any event I was embarrassed regarding the content. Most are not like this one, but it helped me understand why the left wants to paint all of us with the same brush.

If you listened to CNN regarding the US Supreme court decision, you heard (From analysts at least for the first few hours)

- "The court did a dis-service" Greta V.
- This ruling is basically a tie (Mighty similar to the democratic spin)
- It is a fairly easy matter for the Fl Supreme court to Deal with since the just need to re-write a couple of paragraphs.

If you listend to Fox you heard

- The re-write veiw quoted above
- The view that says the Supreme Ct has the votes to over ride, that is why they vacated the order.
- Some critical analysis regarding the re-write theory, from Brit Hume that says essentially "Not so easy for the Fl supreme court to re write since the basis that they used to limit Sec. of State authority was entirely wrapped in Fl Constititution. And that can not trump the US constitiution."

It is that critical analysis, that fox will do to both sides that has you libs reeling. Heretofore, the other networks never did that to a democratic or liberal views. Fox does it to both sides, presents both sides. You are just not used to having your viewpoints challenged by mainstream media.

Just to note, The Republican spin from J. Baker, was that The supreme court ruled in their favor on the two points they contended. Very little made of that spin on either network.

I agree with your observation of bias and that you are able to enjoy listening to conservative views. However, I cannot say the same for the liberal views. There is no lack of lies, no respect for right or standards of, and endless promotion of personal and selfish agendas. Cutting out the spin of liberals is to cut out complete dialog for their lies are all spin. Sorry, each time I hear a liberal speak, I get the urge to vomit. Any honest person would fair no better.
