Thanks for the more detailed response. I don't have time to comment right now, but when I do I may have some questions about your post. Regards

Kenneth,

It is quite easy to shoot plenty of holes in that post, starting with, "Its important to keep in mind that CIEN was first to market with both DWDM and Metro and today they are not number 1 in any of these catagories".

We know this is not true as Ciena has a 37% market share vs Nortel's 4% according to Wit Soundview.

Insofar as Nortel's ability to execute, it is excellent. But is pales in comparison to Ciena's. Furthermore, Ciena is not burdened with legacy equipment baggage.

What more needs to be said?

Jack Hutchison

"Nortel is the only vendor that can offer 160 channels of DWDM at OC-192, a feat CIEN has still to match.

fujitsu selling 176 channel system made by avnx...avnx has 1000 channel system in the lab that actually works(powermux product has potential to create 100000-1000000 channels)...esex, last week, noted 4000 channel system with 1 GHz channel spacing...nt does not have best technology anymore...smaller co's passing them by as we speak.
