BobP: There is indeed a common thread to what e-Bill proposed (a knowledge test for voters) and voting restrictions of the early 19th century. In both instances, the white ruling party sought to minimize the influence of the dis-enfranchised. His proposal is most nefarious and provides a sterling example of why Republican elitism is to be feared in this country.

I could give a rat's behind as to whether right-wing extremists view my posts as idiotic. As a matter of fact, when people tell me I'm an idiot, I use that as a litmus test for truth.

As for myself, I just vote the way my union tells me to vote. Usually all that involves is looking for the donkey on the voting machine and making sure all the lights come on. And then doing the same three hours later in a neighboring precinct.
