GV, Re: You can avoid questions about specific guidance

Exactly. The CB interview is very annoying in the way he talk about one time gain, tax gain etc.

I believe INTC could have made the guidance at the low end. If you look at the warning it says flat +/- 2% which means they could have easily pushed to hit the low end of the 4-8% range. I believe this warning was meant more for Q1 and all of FY2001. I am sure it became clear that even if they pushed to hit Q4, there is no way they could come close to current Q1 estimates given the decelerating nature of the order patterns. There is no point in trying to hit this Quarter if you just create a bigger hole for yourself next quarter.

I hope they push everything possible into Q1 to limit the damage there. Q2 has a much better chance of reaccelerating growth given both new product introductions and HOPEFULLY A MORE FRIENDLY FED.

Q1 still scares me, especially if the FED remains stubborn. If the FED moves it will change the psychology of the market and it will be more willingly to look over the cavern of Q1. I did see that INTC is scheduled to reduce 1.4 P4 prices this weekend but it won't move on 1.5 P4 prices until January. I am hopeful that this is a signal that higher speed parts will be available at that time (probably 1.7). I will also pray that there are no hiccups in the P4 ramp...too many analysts have sighted that as a concern already and INTC has to start proving these concerns illfounded if the stock is going to recover.
