In your dad's case it may also have a lot to do with the extra memory. This is not to say that the processor is not making the difference but to try to point to more likely reasons for the better experience.> Forgot to mention the graphic system for my 233MMX->Duron927 upgrade. My 3-year old card had 4MB and the new has 8 MB, both fairly generic, though I am sure the latter is more powerful. I believe the majority of the gains I have seen are the result of the processor. The faster internet was something I looked forward too as well as additional CPU capacity for the few demanding drawings I have to work on (extra RAM, 64->256 definitely helped here as well as much faster HD). Again, each individual's wants/needs is what matters. -PT
