It has been awhile since I have read much fiction, but I made sure I got a lot of coverage even after college, before time became more pressed. Maybe I will check out the Hemingway story you mention. Both Lewis and Bellow are Nobelists, and they deserve it. For Bellow, try "Herzog", for Lewis "Babbit". I should mention sci- fi. I love "A Canticle for Leibowitz". I admire "Lord of Light" (Zelazney). I still have a soft spot for "Stranger in a Strange Land". I consider The Foundation Trilogy to be sub- literary, but a whopping good story. I am very fond of the Perelandra trilogy, particularly "That Hideous Strength". I liked the novel "2001" better than the movie. I always liked Verne and Welles, and there are, of course, numerous short stories and novellas that are good, by various authors, like Poul Anderson and Harlan Ellison. I agree, it is essentially over......
