There're gaps everywhere, not sure which one you mean. If you mean this AM's, could be a reversal into it as soon as Monday. See how things close today, could be some sell signals, but I can't see going into this weekend short. Could even imagine a post-concession rally resolving into a sell-off, but still wouldn't want to try to hold through it, and the larger risk isn't worth it. As for the VIX, if I understand what you're saying, I'm reluctant to try to candlestick it: It's so gappy anyway... I mean, it's the derivative of a derivative of derivatives already. Applying any indicator to it results in the derivative of that. Not saying it can't be done... Have never tried. You find it works for you? Generally, I would expect volatility to trend down from recent (ridiculous) levels, at least for a while, sort of in relaxing hiccups.
