Where I live, we have a railroad track a very short distance away. This is a spur line servicing a factory some distance further. Most evenings, around six, a miniature train, of three or four cars makes its way past our place. Because it goes right through the centre of town, and many people use its right-of-way as a shortcut from the downtown centre to the nearby parking lots, it travels at about the pace of a brisk walk. It's leisurely pace means it's visible for a few minutes. The Commander loves trains, and when it's near, I call him. It's one of the few events that'll bring him no matter what he's doing otherwise. He comes to the window and watches HIS train until it's gone. I enjoy watching the train too, but I get more fun from watching this grown man admire the little train.

And why I really appreciate this train ...

The Commander, is now on his feet and in the kitchen. I ask for help, and since he's already there and in a wonderful mood, he never refuses. We work together preparing our meal.

Cheers, PW.
