Scumbria,

The FL Sup. CT overruled the lower court and is requiring the manual recount of votes. Bush's lead cut to 154 votes.

Florida Supreme Court rules for Gore cnn.com

In a 4-3 decision, the Florida Supreme
Court has reversed a lower court ruling
in Al Gore's contest of the presidential
election and ordered manual recounts
tobegin immediately.

So, will the thugs, er, Republican Congressional staffers be taking the redeye to Tallahassee? Or will W and Co. relax and let Jeb and the legislature deliver the votes? Another weekend for the local and national pundits of the righteous right to bloviate, anyway.

Cheers, Dan.

Neither Gore nor Bush is qualified to be President. The difference is that Gore would be able to stand up to the Republican right, whereas Bush won't.

That statement assumes that the Republican right is a horrible thing that has to be opposed.

Horrible or not the Republican right usually has had only the power to slow down grabs for power by liberals. If the democrats win government grows, if the Republicans win government grows 90% as fast as it would have had the democrats had won.

I;m not worried about Gore's ability to stand up to what I see as negative ideas. What concerns me is that Gore is one of the supporters of increased regulation, increased federal government spending, and using the tax code to favor some groups over others. Bush unfortunately on many of these issues is "me too but a little less", like many other Republicans.
