There are more Republican voters in Florida than there are Democrats. I don't know for sure, but I believe that there are more Republican counties in Florida than there are Democrats.

Look, here's the deal.

I have not read the opinion, and I am not a lawyer. So this could be horse manure for all I know. I don't think there is any law that the FL SC can do what they did legally.

If there is ONE county in Florida that DIDN'T use the punchcard ballot, then this whole thing is simply another rewrite of the Florida Constitution. The opinion states that these 'recounts' should occur in such counties as use the punchcard system. They also included 'votes' that have already been counted for Gore that don't comply with the standards set by the Florida Legislature.

Bush has a very, very good case for equal protection, a good case that the Constitution of the United States has been violated, IMHO.

The Bush people have two choices:

1. Don't go along with it because it is illegal.

2. Get started on the counting of the "undervotes" as soon as possible.

Not doing the recount would be dangerous, but if it were me, I would simply refuse to do it, EVEN THOUGH I AM QUITE SURE BUSH WOULD WIN.
