Douglas,
No relief in sight weatherwise for California and it looks like the WA and OR are going to need their power:

accuweather.com

In my view, Joe's got it right here.

Night all,

Douglas,

<<Does it bother you that the election of the next President of the United States is now in the hands of a group of completely unknown (and unelected) County Canvas Board officials who have been given no guidelines whatsoever by the Florida Supreme Court to do a partial selective recount of only 42,000 of the 6,000,000 ballots cast in the State?

It should.>>

There are SO MANY things about the Democrats' conduct in this election, and the activities of canvassing boards, and the activities of stupid judges (yes, many have acted with restraint and within the scope of their jobs, but then again, that's what they're SUPPOSED to do), that I have spent probably 20 posts talking about it.

My original post, several hundred ago, was that Al Gore and the Forces of Evil would justify any means to achieve their ends. We had already seen this rudderless system at work in the Clinton Frat, er, White House, where His Tumescence justifies perjury and obstruction of justice as the "dirty minds of the House Managers," and quibbles in word games over the meaning of "sex" and "is," and describes his actions under impeachment and trial as defending the Constitution against its foes. I simply noted that THAT philosophical system, if one should call it that, or that "operating system," is the core underpinning of pimps, drug pushers, embezzlers and tyrants. Your Colombian drug lord, the guy running 3 girls on a street corner in Philadelphia, the errant accountant and Slobodan all use the same software, SansMorals O/S, and it is what informs Slick and Algore, to the core. Am I comparing Slick and Algore to Stalin? In one sense yes, in one sense no.

I reiterate, Algore won't occupy the Peacock Throne, but he and his minions will have damaged the country severely in the process. Gore will achieve a minor, immoral victory in his defeat, and Bush will achieve a debilitating victory in his victory, and the country will be the loser.

(Btw, we need election reform (forget campaign finance reform); I did not realize that corporations finance union members' voting by giving them paid holidays on election day, during which time good union members round up the not so committed and drive them to the polls. Republicans have to work on election day, often travelling or getting so busy they can't get down to the polls between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. We need to run elections on Saturday, from 12 noon to 10 pm EST across the entire country, including Hawaii, with ATM style, computerized voting. End of sermon (for now).)
