I don't have this book so was wondering if this horrific statement by itself is out of context? Is this truly algore's belief?

A lot of liberals hold to that belief. Even Ted Turner has
a negative opinion of Christians.

Paul, I have to be completely honest on this. I received this excerpt as an e-mail from a friend. I posted it and then, after a challenge by someone, elected to go and buy the book to confirm. I went to Barnes and Noble and purchased the book and could not find the quote on page 342 as was noted. I posted that fact. Then, it was discovered by another poster the edition I purchased is not the first printing and Gore had revised the second print. In his first print he used the Penguin Group. The edition I purchased is printed by Plume Printing. Gore does a "foreword to the Plume Edition" and states many changes have taken place in the U.S. and throughout the world since the first printing but says there are no "material" modifications to the first edition. That's all I know. The quote may have been in the first edition but unless someone can come up with the book to confirm I have to say it isn't there. However, he still is "way off the wall" in just the little reading I have done in this book.

I look forward to reading your posts, because you say it like it is and I happen to always
agree! <g>

In this case Frank made a mistake. The answer to your question is that the horrific statement is a lie. It was so obvious to me that it was a lie, that I got the book. It is not on page 342 or any other page, and Pastor Bob, whom I suspect to have originated the lie that others are spreading, has removed it from his website.
