Scumbria, There are plenty of good things in the Santa Clara Valley. It is just a pain in rear living there.

Each to his own. Personally, whenever I've lived more than a couple hours drive from the ocean, Atlantic or Pacific, I've felt completely landlocked. Maybe I've got genes from the first critters that ventured onto the land. Maybe you have to live in an area long enough to get yourself and your family to a place and style of living you can stand. I have to admit that the valley has changed a lot since I've been here, and the more crowded aspect and worse traffic do come to mind first.
