Morning mtnlady,

I agree with your assessment that this looks rather fair to to a lot of people. I spoke to around 20-30 people at a dinner yesterday, and most seemed bemused by the process... Of the 20 or so people that I talked to, half (who don't really have much in the way of partisanship) were only anxious to get the stuff over with, and were quite willing to go along with the FLSC decision.... its just a few more days was what I heard a lot. Of the other 10 or so 3 were rabid Democrats and the rest were hard core Repubs with predictable reactions...

Pretty much all were concerned that there would be almost no chance of there being any unity in the congress - leading to essentially nothing being done in the next 4 years. Some were already refering to the next 4 years as "the lost years".

The problem everyone was unhappy about was how this situation would look to our freinds and, especially, foes outside the US. If we are perceived to be weak, or seriously divided, it would enable a few of these rogue states to start becoming adventurous - the vision of an overwhelming force, i.e. the US, willing and able to be forceful if necessary with clear and consistent leadership and principles is about the only thing holding back the raging ambitions of these tinpot two penny troublemakers...

Sorry for the poll folks... we all know how accurate those are.... *grin*...

Regards...
