The election is likely to be ultimately resolved in Bush's favor for reasons which you have probably read about in your morning newspaper, i.e, if the Supreme Court does not intervene (which I think is probable), the Fla. Legislature will adopt a Republican slate of electors which, under Federal law, must be approved by the new House and Senate. Assuming that Gore breaks a tie vote at the Senate in his favor, that Lieberman has the sense to vote for himself, and that the House votes along party lines, the law gives the Governor of the disputed state the right to appoint a slate of electors. Jeb will appoint a GOP slate, naturally.

Gore knows this, and knows that in the final analysis his quest is doomed. He is making it difficult for Bush so that his Presidency is tainted.

It's a cynical, manipulative game. Hard ball politics at its worst. If Gore had an ounce of decency, he'd admit that he can't win, and would not put the country through the damage which this will create.

What does this have to do with the Q? Tremendous trading opportunities Monday as the market probably tanks followed by more losses as the scenario develops, ending with a huge rally when Jeb appoints the GOP slate.

If you are a trader, you should be licking your chops. It's not often that traders get such a clearly defined opportunity.
