longer term, they will need to stay on the cutting edge, i suspect. my observation of pop culture is that no one is able to stay on the cutting edge for too long. if they follow the trends and change they risk losing their current audience. if they don't follow the trends they don't gain new consumers and still suffer attrition of the current user base over time. a tough business.
