My thoughts on the subject:
The person (or Martian) that's Taxpayer Identification number is on the account will receive a 1099 from the brokerage firm. It will show 100% numbers. That person in turn must issue a 1099 to the other joint account owner for their share of the trades. Then, each will report their respective portion of each trade.
