>>What I don't understand is why the market hates the thought of Gore being president?

I think the "market" hates ideas like socialized health care, high taxes & regulations on drug prices.

I think the market likes ideas like oil exploration in Alaska, lower taxes, smaller federal government, and voluntary investment of Social Security funds in the securities markets.

On the drug issue, Gore is less likely to respect the intellectual property of the drug makers. Us QCOM folks should relate to that! If Gore is elected expect the bio-tech industry to crash hard.

I don't believe the market hates the idea of president Gore. What the market hates is the uncertainty (although I don't understand that either). As far as getting things done, it is Congress that starts most fo the processes and we know how the House and senate are divided. So, why the market is transfixed, I haven't a clue. The uncertainty now may go on for a few weeks as we might get to slates of electors. But, this too, is not a crisis. The constitution tells us exactly how to handle that situation. There is no crisis. There is uncertainty and apparently that means a lot to the so-called money managers.
