Roebear; I work in the energy industry and have very little sympathy with the current supply status on the West Coast. They created laws that stifled and wiped out a number of companies. It will be difficult for there to be a synfuels industry in this country since almost all of the seasoned engineers in that industry during the 80's are now fully retired. This activity was handled by oil company R&D groups. Almost all of the oil companies have discontinued R&D and laid off all of those workers. Only Exon/Mobil and Chevron have much smaller R&D groups left at 10% of there original size. All of the others no longer exist. Everything you have said in your previous post is absolutely correct and well written.
