Amy, >There's been some improvement:
Q4's warning was issued 2 weeks earlier (on Dec 7), which is a significant improvement to the release date of Q3's warning (on Sept 21).

Sun shares slump on analysts' warning

Sun Microsystems Inc. shares fell 9.1 percent after two Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. analysts said some products at the maker of server computers may be losing ground to systems from rivals. Sun fell $3.88 to $38.94. More than 113 million shares changed hands, making it the most active stock in U.S. markets. In a note to investors, Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. analysts Toni Sacconaghi Jr. and Elliot Rothstein said Sun's less expensive servers, which are used to power Web sites and corporate networks, may be ``slowly losing to cheaper Intel-based systems.''
