This attitude is NOT representative of conservative thought. It is full of hate and bias and conservatives want nothing to do with this kind of thinking.

As a conservative woman I think that the governments role is to encourage independance and give help to Americans on welfare. To rectify this poorly thoughtout and executed scheme, programs have been set up to educate people in order for them to become independant, self sufficiant individuales that are able to take care of their families and become productive Americans. Being able to do these simple things gives people confidence that can't be measured. To be able to take charge of ones life without the stigma of welfare control is freedom. The ability to realize the American dream is the most basic right we possess. By giving people something they have not earned, you segregate them and stifle creativity and the basic human instinct for self sufficiancy. What you do create are people that are held prisoner by a government entity that dictates their mesure of success or failure in how much money they receive from that Government. Conservatives do not consider this freedom and support laws that help those in need.

I have been lurking on this board since the very beginning of the election and clearly see that some will never accept the fact that all of us are basically hoping for what is best for Americans. I have noticed some that are full of hate. Some that aren't fully informed. Some that don't care and only post to incite chaos. Some that are paid to post a point of view. Some that make complete sense, some that don't. Some don't want to understand. Some where born to their political views, some developed them as they grew into adulthood. The beauty is this! We are all entitled to our views and opinions wrong or right, but we are all responsible to take into account all information available and in the end make our decisions based on those facts. We don't have to agree. We don't have to get along. We aren't guaranteed the right to like what we hear or what inevitably takes place, but we are all Americans and in the end that above all else is what makes us unique.

How fortunate I am to have been born here. How lucky I am to be able to speak and vote freely. There is no room for hate or bias or powerful people with less than honest motives to further their less than honest agendas no matter what their political views are. Some think Gore is guilty of this, some Bush. It has become very clear that we will never know "who won Florida". It doesn't matter how many times the ballots are looked at. Not any more. The integrity of those ballots has been forever compromised. It doesn't matter who looks at them. Not any more. The trust has been lost.

I just want to thank some people. I thank my forefathers for my freedom. I thank the founders of this great country, for my freedom. I thank both of my Great Grandfathers who fought in the American Civil War, for my freedom. I thank my father who fought in WW11 for my freedom, may he rest in peace. I thank my grandmothers and mother, my husbands grandmothers and mother for supporting their husbands during good and bad times. We should all be thankfull to live where we do and start paying more attention to how we can make it better.
