Strange, but I'm a lot more pleased with the slow plodding machinations than I am with the continual "spinning lawyers". Long time ago, my dad told me to not only form a judgement of a man by his friends, but to take a good look at his adversaries. ALL of these folks I see on tv .... friends and foes of BOTH .... make me wonder about any judgement of mine on either of these jokers .... on balance I'll give a slight edge to TeamBush in that respect ... can't stand Boise or Daley, but like Douglass of GoreTeam ... don't like Terwilliger or Richard, but really like Baker of TeamBush... You and Ron voted for Gore ... Cuz Paul and I voted for Bush ... this has been publicly disclosed ... yet we can all be friends and respect each others opposing views ... and do it in a civilized, while joking, manner. I personally can see and understand well BOTH sides of this ongoing disagreement. Without going into long dissertation about this and that, and even getting into sealing wax, cabbages and kings I feel that had the "standards" which are in effect here in my home county are excellent. I have quizzed the folks in charge locally of counting votes. We use an optical scanner ... when an undervote OR an overvote, or some other ballot for which a vote can't be counted is detected ==== that ballot is kicked out into a separate stack === whereupon it is examined by the canvassing committee which is done "in sunshine" with representatives of each political party (who wish to be there)watching. Upon this eyeball review the vote is declared ..... whether it be into the nonvote catagory or to the canidate that the can/brd determines unless it catches an objection from the observers .... at that point the county judge becomes the arbitrator .... and that ballot is kept segregrated from the rest "should" further need to examine it arise .... don't think we've had 10 disputed ballots in the 5 years and leventy dozen elections where the machine has been used. It is a great shame that if a relatively poor county like mine, in rural NE Tx has this machine that "nearly 100%" is accurate ....why can't this fine nation follow suit. on a more important subject ... I sincerly hope that Ron's dad will be ok ... I've been keeping the chapel well lit with candles down here .... Peace
