USSC if they did the unexpected, and decided for gore, could possibly(i am guessing) turn the clock back and give Florida 48 hours more to certify.
BTW, I think it would be great if Bush called off the dogs in the Florida legislature and announced that he would accept the USSC decision.

What does this mean, "Gore can then decide if he wants to send his own electors"....how is it that two sets of electors can go. Can the underdog candidate in ANY Presidential election in ANY state send his OWN electors just because he feels like it?

A quick decision in Gores favor on monday could, with an all nighter, get those votes counted. Unlikely, i know.
I really hated the FSC decision but once the count started it was really hard for me to have it stopped. It is unclear to me that Bush would automatically have lost in this recount. My gut tells me the SC should unify standards for the recount and include already recounted broward and the democrat precincts in dade and perhaps even palm. Also overvotes should be reviewed. Then somehow they should get the 12th deadline extended to the 14th.
I doubt whether any of this is possible or legal but I believe an outcome based on the above would be acceptable to most americans. In the absence of this solution, the SC should overrule the FSC. You cant overturn the election based on a statewided recount without statewide standards.
