Diana Ross and the Supremes could have made a better decision today.

Sorry, had to post that. You guys have a little sense of humor, right?

" Nothing would surprise me."

I cannot even conceive of disagreeing with THAT statement. This election seems determined to test every possible twist and turn of election law.

Is there enough time? I've read there are 42,000 ballots to be counted. Let's say deciding a ballot takes one minute and the work goes on 24 hours a day. There are 1440 minutes in a day, so one set of counters would take 30 days. Want to do it in one day, with the counters working only 8 hours a day? Use 90 sets of counters. Yeah, it can be done.

And the 12th is not an absolute deadline. It is a statuatory "safe harbor" deadline; if a state submits one slate of electors by that date, they cannot be challenged. The EC votes on the 18th, but the votes will not be officially counted until Jan. 5 or 6. I've read that if they are delivered by that date, they will probably be accepted. As long as there is only one slate.
