I actually believe that if either party or a third party was fiscally conservative and socially progressive it would easily command the majority of votes in the country.

I would have voted independent but they had no viable candidate.

You've just named the Libertarian Party. Apparently they haven't done a very good job of getting their message out. To put it briefly and perhaps too simplistically, the LP says to the Dems "Get out of my wallet" and to the GOP "Get out of my bedroom". Consistent philosophy of responsible individual freedom and one that I wholeheartedly agree with.
