Tonight, the prospect of an enormous constitutional pileup involving the courts, the Florida Legislature and both houses of Congress seemed diminished, but only at the cost of some of the prestige of the Supreme Court, and only with some diminution of the authority that the new president will wield. No one knows how much the eventual winner has been harmed, but the sudden burst of worried comments about legitimacy, no longer from mere commentators and other bystanders but from the participants themselves, speaks volumes.

re: Perhaps you can take some solace in the fact that the clock ran out because GORE requested, and received, an extension from the FL Extremes, which allowed less time for the contest phase. That was Gore's own fault. He knew of the ultimate deadline.

Very important point, and one the USSC pointing out in their last ruling, buy saying You can't change the rules in the middle of the game. The FLCS is going to go down as looking like fools and the caused for the problem we have now, when all this done with.
