<<The liberals were beside themselves with fear that young blacks might grow up to admire Thomas, and realize that a black could be a conservative, and they might lose a fare share of the black vote.>>

And Thomas will no longer be isolated, with the administration bringing in Powell and Rice. The well-kept secret of our establishment media is that that is three of many. Liberals are practiced at ignoring high-achievment blacks who have reasoned themselves into being conservatives. They desperately need that 80-93% black turnout that they get by encouraging racism. The black population, especially the ones still in high school and college, do notice these roll models, and I believe that the liberals' block of black voters will move toward a more rational % with each new election cycle over this decade.

I thought, perhaps, a Joe Leiberman might notice such a trend, and have objections to running on an openly racist ticket like Gore has established. Unfortunately, Joe turned out to be the biggest failure in American history. And that will still be carved in stone, even if he still happens to become vice-president.
