Here is a theory on why things worked out as they did.

Why didn't the Floriida Supreme court order a total recount of all counties several weeks back with its first ruling?.......why do they wait until the eleventh hour when its basicly to late to do an appropriate complete state wide recount.....could this have been by design to have a time table set for Democratic counties to be read but not Republican ones?....they are all Democrats so they want Gore to win so they figure out a time table in which the large Democratic counties can be counted with ease but next to impossible to count the Republican ones and only look at the Undervote......... but they get trumped by the Republican Supreme Court.....

.....if they had made the right decision early on which was to abide by state laws and let the initial count stand with out delay and then order a full recount with the contest phase well then the Democrats would have had their day in court....fact is the Florida Supreme Court and the Democrats handled this case completely wrong and ended up leaving the Republicans no choice but to defend their man.

Wrong as usual. The protest period ended 7 days after the election, i.e., 14 Nov.knc

"I think you are confusing the protest period with the contest period"

I am NOT confusing these two periods. What leads you to believe that I am doing so?

Because the dems seem to be having problems with the facts and details I will point out that the extended protest phase ended at 5:00pm on November 26 (not 11-27 as you have stated). I am sure you realize the original date set in Florida statute is November 14.

I assume that you are also aware that the contest phase by law MUST include a chance for an appeal, which the NEW contest rules set by the FL SC do not seem to allow. Let's do a really FAST, STANDARDLESS hand count right before a deadline that nobody has time to appeal. That is FAIR?

Anyone who does feel that is fair has a screw loose, imo. If you feel that one of my facts are wrong, please point it out so I can correct it instead of coming back with an EMOTIONAL appeal to count all the votes.
