You've pegged far left big brother bureaucrats perfectly, Doug: "They were strident and unbending and suspected all industry personnel of being war criminals or other forms of pond scum." Doug. This condescending moralistic arrogance and inflexible ideological hostility (based on the fraudulent assumption that government is inherently good and private business inherently bad) is one of the primary reasons we are in now a political & cultural civil war in this country. The election mess is a major turning point in that direction. Because what was once our political center has become more polarized than at any time since the American Civil War. IMHO this higher level of hostility between liberals and conservatives isn't going to be a temporary situation. Although "the volume" will die down from time to time, the years ahead are going to be very unpleasant. We can hope this continuing struggle remains a non-violent one. But students of history know there's no guarantee of that. Iso
