I didn't occur to me that such information might indicate any political bias, let alone elicit a barrage of posts.:)

JohnD,

My apologies for making assumptions without checking them out. Lately, it seems people are making the presidential elections the whipping boy for the markets' ills (and almost everything else)....and its just not true. I understand the election creates uncertainty but that's in addition to the uncertainty that already exists over the state of the economy......and I believe that to be of much greater importance in the long term. And for the record, my portfolio has suffered along with everyone else's.

Having said that, I am not willing to cut short the process we are going through to elect a president. If nothing more, this election has pointed out some serious deficiencies in our election procedures and the counting of the vote. The longer this goes on, the more this garbage is brought to the surface and exposed for what it is. And then, there can be serious election reform. I also believe, given the recent actions of the two supreme cts which currently appear to be juxtaposed to each other, that the laws in FL must not be very clear as to how to proceed (no matter how clear some people seem to think they are), or we wouldn't have justices choosing opposite interpretations that seem to follow their ideological biases rather than a true reading of the law. Of course, I need to reference that statement by saying I am not an attorney. Nonetheless, if I am correct in my observation, then the laws in FL and probably other states re this matter need to be tighten.

As for the tobacco stocks, go for it...they have been on an uptrend for some time. I will not invest in them because of the damage their product does to people....but my taking that position doesn't stop anyone from smoking. So someone should profit from the uptrend.

Again my apologies for jumping to conclusions. Its why they say people should refrain from conversations re politics and religion. ;~))
